The Real Romney - Another secret recording shows what Romney really thinks about minorities, birth control, and public assistance.
In a new recording of a conference call that took place yesterday, Romney told his contributors that Obama’s strategy was to “focus on certain members of his base coalition, give them extraordinary financial gifts from the government, and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote.” These gifts, Romney lamented, “add up to trillions of dollars” and were delivered to “targeted groups,” “especially the African-American community, the Hispanic community and young people”
ThinkProgress reports: “An Oklahoma emergency room doctor refused to provide emergency contraception to a 24-year-old female rape victim because the medication violated the health provider’s personal beliefs… ‘I will not give you emergency contraceptives because it goes against my believes,’ the doctor allegedly told the rape victim and her mother, Rhonda. ‘She knew my daughter had just been raped. Her attitude was so judgmental and I felt that she was just judging my daughter.’
Oklahoma law shields providers from offering the perfectly legal medication under a ‘conscience clause’ which could significantly hinder women’s access to contraception services.”
This is sick. You might have to carry your rapist’s child because MY beliefs say so? In what universe is that OK? Whatever happened to “first, do no harm” – and I mean the living, breathing patient in front of you, not a maybe baby conceived by a rape. The religious right whines about secularism intruding into their beliefs, but what is more intrusive than forced pregnancy?
This woman was luckily able to get EC at another hospital. Other people might not be so lucky.

Comic Book Boycott of the Day: Conservative group One Million Moms is at it again, directing its not-quite-a-million members to boycott Marvel and DC Comics due to recent announcements from both companies about their futures of their gay characters.
DC has revealed that a major character is soon going to come out as gay, while Marvel announced the engagement of superhero Northstar to his boyfriend, Kyle.
These events don’t sit will with One Million Moms, whose anti-gay agenda has also led them to protest the wedding of Archie Comics’ first gay character, Kevin Keller.
“Children desire to be just like superheroes,” said the group in a statement. “Children mimic superhero actions and even dress up in costumes to resemble these characters as much as possible. Can you imagine little boys saying, ‘I want a boyfriend or husband like X-Men?’”
The statement goes on to accuse the publishers of trying to “indoctrate [sic] impressionable young minds.”
Marvel and DC have yet to respond to the homophobic comments.

^ More than likely, thousands of little boys ALREADY think/say this. It’s funny how teaching kids that being anything but hetero/cis (apologies if I mess up terminology) is NOT ok… isn’t that right there “indoctrinating impressionable young minds”?](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4jy0xRyON1qzpwi0o1_500.jpg)

Sometimes I feel that if Liberals had their way, heterosexual marriages would be outlawed to allow for all homosexuals to be as far from repressed as possible.
By trying to help make one group of people feel accepted, you are systematically repressing everyone else who you feel has too many rights as it is. I’m not ashamed of who I am or what I stand for, so I will be damned if I let you take rights away from me.
That’s why I’m a Republican.
Yup, that’s our long-term goal. No more straights.
But for real, you ignorant ass: we don’t feel that straight people (a group that includes a lot of us liberals; it’s true, we’re not all militant atheist gays!) have “too many rights.” We feel that they (we) have a right that non-straight people don’t have, and that’s not fair. How come I’m able to marry the consenting adult that I love, and my gay friends aren’t? How would it “systematically repress” you to pass a law that wouldn’t affect you or your right to be married?
Do you really, seriously have any evidence or precedent whatsoever for liberals taking away marriage for straight people? No, you don’t, because that’s preposterous. Only Republicans believe that things like liberty and rights are a zero-sum game. We can allow non-straight people to get married AND still let straight people get married. It’s not like America has a finite number of marriage licenses and once we run out no one can get married any more.
Nobody’s trying to take away your rights. We’re just trying to make sure everyone has the same ones.
